Glossary
The words used on this site and in the specification.
- Agent
agent - Software that wants to act on devices, e.g. a voice assistant.
- Allow
allow - Decision: the request runs right away.
- Ask
ask - Decision: a person must confirm first.
- Audit log
audit - Hash-chained record of every decision.
- Category
category - One of 13 device groups, such as light or lock.
- Critical action
critical - An action that is hard to undo, like opening a lock.
- Deny
deny - Decision: the request is refused.
- Home guard
PEP - The part inside the home that checks every request.
- Mandate
mandate - The household’s rules for one agent.
- Rule
rule - One line of a mandate: which devices, which actions, which decision.
- Vocabulary
vocabulary - The list of categories and actions everyone shares.
- Wildcard
* - Matches any action. Allowing a critical action this way is not enough: without an explicit allow_critical, a person is asked.
